For the culminating assessments on the first unit, students should be prepared to write in-class essays for the following prompt.

  2. From the perspective of either a W.A.S.P. or a newly arrived immigrant; explain how the Old and New Immigration changed the foundation of who the American people are politically, economically, and socially as well as the consequences that resulted from its evolution.
  3. From the perspective of either a W.A.S.P. or a newly arrived immigrant; explain how the Post World War I immigration once again changed or are changing the foundation of who the American people are politically, economically, and socially as well as the consequences that resulted from this transformation.

Your essays should include a multitude of historical evidence from the PowerPoint and your reading of the text (events and vocabulary use are necessary for optimal scoring).
